My Top 10 Practical Gifts Of 2019

My top 10 practical gifts of 2019 is not a typical gift wish list. The gifts that I’ve received from my husband have been practical and useful which is why I LOVE them! Don’t get me wrong, I love a pair of earrings as much as the next woman, but I don’t like to spend money on gifts that aren’t NEEDED and I don’t want to receive them either.

Below are the top 10 gifts that my husband bought me over the past year. I use most of these every day so I can honestly recommend them. We aren’t traditional gift-givers in the timing of gifts either. We don’t give gifts on holidays like Valentine’s Day or Christmas and we don’t give gifts on our birthdays. We give gifts when they are needed, or sometimes wanted, or when there is a really good deal. Sometimes the gifts are more meaningful this way because they are not given out of expectation or obligation.

However, or whenever you decide to give a gift I hope that my list will inspire you to find something truly useful.

1. Calming Comfort Weighted Blanket by Sharper Image- A Heavy Blanket| 15 lb. 50″ x 75″, Grey

I said they were in no particular order but this REALLY is my favorite gift from this year. This blanket is so comfortable, so soft, and so cozy. I have slept deeply with this weighted blanket and my white noise sound machine. My only complaint is that over time the filling has shifted to the outside of the blanket. I have tried a few other weighted blankets to try to find a better system but have returned them because they aren’t as comfortable as the Sharper Image blanket.

2. Oral-B Pro 6000 SmartSeries Electronic Power Rechargeable Battery Electric Toothbrush with Bluetooth Connectivity

Our dentist has been recommending an Oral-B electric toothbrush for years but we have used a Sonicare electric toothbrush for as long as I can remember. There was a great deal on Amazon for the Oral-B so we decided to gift them to ourselves. I wish that I had listened to our dentist earlier because I LOVE this toothbrush. My teeth feel clean, my gums look healthy, and it has some really fun features. I just turned the light to orange for Fall. The pressure feature is great for monitoring how hard you brush to ensure that you are not damaging your gums or enamel.

As I get older my knees can’t take running and other high impact exercises. So I have started doing yoga at home. We have concrete floors with an area rug in the living room where I do yoga but the rug doesn’t provide much padding. This Yoga Mat is perfect and has made my workout sessions more enjoyable. A friend referred me to DDP Yoga and I LOVE it! I am amazed at how high your heart rate can climb from simple movements.

A recommendation from our Ophthalmologist was to protect our eyes from the blue light from our electronics. I spend most of my day looking at a computer, phone, or tv screen. I was starting to get a headache every afternoon that I was working on my computer. These glasses have really helped! I highly recommend getting some sort of blue light blocker for all of your devices or getting these glasses if you spend time working on a computer.

These are the BEST hangers! Your clothes won’t drag the floor when hung on the lower rod and you can use the shelf underneath when hung on the higher rod. We originally purchased these as a Kickstarter campaign and then bought more from Amazon when they became available.

We sleep with a fan on at night to keep the room cool, but I also sleep with this sound machine on my nightstand every night. Paired with my weighted blanket I get the BEST night’s sleep! It has 10 fan sounds and 10 white noise sounds as well as a volume control. We also take it with us when we travel and it blocks out noise from other hotel guests and outside sounds. I also have this travel case that keeps everything organized and protected in my suitcase

I have become a coffee drinker in the last year to year and a half and Starbucks is out of my budget. I LOVE the versatility of this coffee maker. I drink my “Happy Coffee” every morning so I just need a cup of hot water. My husband drinks Breakfast Blend coffee every morning and is able to brew 1 cup, a travel mug, half a carafe, or a full carafe depending on how much caffeine he needs that day. I like my coffee stronger so I’m able to brew mine separately to satisfy my caffeine needs. I haven’t experimented with the Specialty Coffee recipes that are included in the recipe book but they look delicious.

However, we were in a store and I saw this coffee mug and LOVED the color and design and my amazing husband went back and bought it for me and surprised me with it later. I use this coffee mug EVERY day and it keeps my coffee hot so that I can enjoy it while I watch the Today Show.

Having a cordless vacuum is a must if you have pets or children. This is a great vacuum and the versatility can’t be beaten. I use it for cleaning up small messes without having to get out our regular vacuum. I also regularly use it to dust hard to reach areas like blinds, return vents, and baseboards. I’m not going to lie, I think this one was a gift from my husband to himself but it does make me feel better knowing that I have it in my car. This was my husband’s motivation for buying it for me. We used it a few weeks ago when we were leaving a football game and someone in the parking lot needed a jump. It worked as advertised and was very quick and easy. He also got me this case to keep it neatly stored in the car.
